Duration
Up to 4 months (one semester). 10 working days for External Examination; 5 days for programme accreditation.
Honoraria (monthly)
Lecturer USD 1,000 · Senior Lecturer USD 1,500 · Associate Prof. USD 2,000 · Professor USD 2,500.
Who can apply
Academic staff (Lecturer and above) from IUCEA member universities, plus universities wishing to host visiting staff.
About the programme
The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) invites applications for the 2026/2027 Staff Mobility Programme. The programme encourages the exchange of knowledge, skills and experiences across EAC member universities to address capacity gaps and advance regional higher-education integration.
Participants offer their services in teaching, research, external examination, programme accreditation and community engagement.
Eligibility at a glance
- Host / Home institution is an active IUCEA member (max 2 years arrears)
- Applicant holds a Doctorate and rank of Lecturer or higher
- Host university is in an EAC Partner State different from the applicant's country of nationality
- Applicant completes Form G (Guest) and identifies or is matched with a Host (Form H)
Form G — Guest Staff
For academic staff who wish to participate in the mobility programme at another EAC university.
Form H — Host Institution
For member universities wishing to receive a visiting staff member from another EAC Partner State.
